        KCK code of city ordinances chapter 7, sec. 7-1 Definitions. "Dog" means any members of the zoological family Canis familiaris. (1996)

        Leawood
        Leawood pets are licensed annually, as well; late fees are assessed after March 1. To be licensed, an animal must have a valid rabies vaccination good through the end of the current year. (1996)

        Lenexa
        If you are a resident of Lenexa and have a dog or cat over the age of six (6) months, you need to obtain an animal license for your pet. Procedure: Application for animal license can be made by the owner on a form provided by the City Clerk's office. This form can be mailed or faxed to you. Renewals for licensing are mailed in December for the following year. You may handle either new licenses or renewals by mail or in person. The form requires information about the owner and pet information including sex, age, breed, color, call name, and the rabies inoculate certificate number, date, and administering veterinarian. Some local veterinarians will also be selling city animal tags at their clinics. If you already have two dogs and/or two cats and would like to have an additional pet you need a special pet permit.  (1996)

        Merriam
        All dogs and cats six months of age or older must be licensed. The license fee is $10.00, $5.00 if the dog or cat is neutered or spayed. The license period is January 1st through December 31st each year. Failure to license your dog or cat may result in the issuance of a citation for violating the animal licensing ordinance. License applications are available and must be filled out and returned with proper licensing fees and the current rabies vaccination receipt signed by your veterinarian.  Residents are not allowed to have more  than two (2) dogs. Anyone that desires to keep more than two dogs must go through a petition process. There is no limit on the number of cats per residence.         Shawnee
        It is against the law in Shawnee to keep apes, gorillas, monkeys, chimpanzees, lions, tigers, leopards, panthers, bears, foxes, coyotes, wolves, raccoons, skunks, ostriches, pit bull dogs, or any animal having poisonous bites. All dogs and cats over 6 months of age must be licensed. You can have 2 dogs and 2 cats over the age of 6 months. To keep more than 2 dogs and/or more than 2 cats anywhere in the city, you must have a Special Pet Permit. (1996)
