S
et at the Grand Hotel on Michigan's Mackinac Island, thisis the story of a young Chicago playwright, Christopher
Reeve, who comes to the hotel and sees a photo of an actress
who appeared there at the hotel in the year 1912.
<Realaudio>|
The picture above was taken when <Compressed wav> Richard walks backstage in 1912, it's also the picture that compelled him to go back in time in 1980 (now figure that out)
As Richard (Christopher Reeve) finds himself being drawn to the picture, he feels driven to *will* himself to "go back in time" to met the actress, his destiny, "Elise McKenna" (Jane Seymour).By sheer will, <Realaudio> he is able to go back to the year 1912 and is determined to meet and to marry his love. <Realaudio> he now realizes that this is his fate and that the old lady that gave him his pocket watch 10 years ago, was actually Elise who has grown old.
After he arrives in the year 1912, he does met and is very persistent in his intentions towards Elise, at first she is skeptical, however with a few chance meetings, and finally a date, she finds herself attracted to Richard as well. That night, Elise performed in a play at the hotel comedy house. She diverts from her script and says <Realaudio> directly to him while he is in the audience (She does gets back on track and the audience loves it)
Warning - (If you haven't seen the movie and plan on seeing it - don't click on the Real Audio below - Go and get the movie quick)
After making love for the first time, they both realize how much in love they are, Elise wants to first thing to buy Richard a new suit. Richard is quite proud of his choice and starts bragging on his old suit and discovers a present day penny in his side pocket <Realaudio>
A very powerful 1980 movie and one of Jesse's and mine favorites (see other links below)Jeannot Szwarc does well in the director's chair, and Jean-Pierre Dorleac (brother of Francoise) deserves special commendation for his costumes; Dorleac's costumes were nominated for an Oscar. |
