The bible does not say that we are saved by "faith alone". It says that we must also follow God's instructions.

Note that the Jews are not confused. They know perfectly well that Jesus is speaking literally. Jesus had two opportunities to revise His statements, but he did not. He meant what he said, and He knew that the Jews understood Him properly (6:61); this is why He let them walk away.

Luke 22:19 And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me."

The relationship of a queen to her son the king

1 Kings 2:19 Bathsheba therefore went to King Solomon, to speak to him for Adonijah. And the king rose up to meet her and bowed down to her, and sat down on his throne and had a throne set for the king's mother; so she sat at his right hand.
2:20 Then she said, "I desire one small petition of you; do not refuse me." And the king said to her, "Ask it, my mother, for I will not refuse you." [this sort of relationship was common at the time. See John 2:1-5]
