of the Legler Barn Museum
Complex
The Mission of the Legler Barn Museum Complex is to preserve,
collect, exhibit, research, and educate the public about the history
of the region of Lenexa, Kansas from prehistoric times to the present.
Our mission is to improve continually:
1) our abilities to care for and preserve our collections according
to the most current professional museum standards;
2) to accumulate a collection of unique artifacts and archival
material about Lenexa, it's history and prehistory, and
it's people;
3) our ability to interpret our collections through interpretive
and stimulating exhibits;
4) to provide public access to research about the area through
our historian and/or our collections;
5) our ability to provide enriching, informative programs about
Lenexa history and prehistory to the public;
6) our ability to inform and educate the public about preservation,
history, and the purpose of museums;
7) to involve the community in the development, growth, and
excitement of local history and museum education; and
8) to do all of the above in an ethical and professional manner.
